Here's a Curveball! Search Engine Optimization!

I wanted to switch up this post a little. My two previous posts were about creating logos. Of course you can use these logos for anything but most likely they would be used for a website or blog. What good does it do if nobody can find your website? Every time I search Google I get millions of results and thousands of pages. If you're like me you probably never go passed the third or fourth page before changing your keywords. Here are a few tips to improve your ranking on Google and other search engines. These are just some tips to apply to your current website but just these tips alone won't get you to the front page on Google, but it's a start!

  •  A picture might be worth a thousand words, but search engines don't read pictures. Make sure your key search terms are written out in text, not part of a graphic title. That also means you should not just show pictures of jerseys, but also write out the names, and possibly a keyword description with the title.Though pictures and multimedia are necessary just be sure to include text with them.

  • Have several pages of articles related to your website's topic. Use a different keyword search term for each article. For instance, one article might use frequently the term "authentic jerseys", while another might use the term "quality jerseys"

  • What's the URL of your website? Your name won't help you there. Your key search term will. In this instance, I might pick www.How-tobuyonline.com, for example (if that is one of your top keyword phrases).

  • What's the title of your page? I don't know how many times I see titles such as "Article" or "Contact us". Don't expect the search engine robots to get all excited about that term. And don't expect anybody to search for that term, either. Much better to title your page "Free tips for online shopping" or "Contact the The online Shopping Experts". By the way, this is the single most important place to include your keyword phrases.

  • What about that navigation menu that appears on every single page of your website? Make sure you have one on each page, and make sure they are descriptive to your keywords. This makes it easier for Google's spiders to navigate the site from any page and "know" what page is about.

I hope these tips will improve your website. Remember getting to the top of Google's ranking takes time. I will continue on this topic for a couple more posts so keep coming back!

    Thanks!
